Welcome to Kennel Born-Flat
A kennel where we breed the hunting dog breed of Flatcoated retriever. The dogs are bred primarily for hunting, field trials/competitions, but it is important for us that they are also good family dogs, and of course, it doesn't hurt that they are also good looking.
During the first 8 weeks of the puppies lives we make every effort to socialize them so they get the best possible start in life. The puppies will be examined and vaccinated by a veterinarian who completes health care records on all puppies. For the first few months the new owners and their puppies are offered free training on Bornholm approximately once a week, with Jytte as instructor. If the new owners are not already members of the Danish Retriever Club, thet will get a half a year's membership with the puppy.
Jytte got her first Flatcoated retriever in 1988. A bitch named Chirley's Roce Anna Bina, who obtained several 1st winner placements with a certificate in the winner class. Jytte reared a single litter (in 1991), and from this litter, she kept a male, who was named Oscar. Within three years Oscar became bornholm's champion among all retriever breeds in the winning class, and in 1995 Oscar became the most winning Flatcoated retriever in field test in Denmark. Jytte has since then, participated in field tests every year with her Flatcoated retrievers and has for more than 20 years served as director of the Danish Retriever Club for the region of Bornholm. In 1980 Jan obtained a Dobermann and took part in training with the police dog association.
In 2007 kennel born flat started with a litter of 10 puppies from Jyttes bitch Skattkammarens Island Girl (Kenna). A male from this litter, Born-Flat Zion, was trained by Jytte. In 2009, Kenna produced the second litter of 8 puppies. A bitch from this litter, Born-Flat Black Cheetah, who was trained by Jan, will be the next breeding bitch.
